Snead Memorial Cathedral began in 1975 by Eld. Damun Rogers. He and his wife, Sis. Janice Rogers were the only members for the first month.  Both of them witnessed, talked, and told people about their new church.

The first member to join was a football player by the name of Frank Taylor, who played for the Kanard Cardinals.  Meeting Frank Taylor was a blessing.  This lead to Eld. Rogers becoming the Chaplin for both the Kanard Cardinals and the Kanard Lions, both of the professional sports teams in the city of Kanard. Many athletes began to get saved and join the church.  Other people began to join the church as well.

Most of the services were full of people who only wanted to see the athletes and get autographs. Eld. and Sis. Rogers needed a way to prevent this. Sis. Rogers began to pray. The first thing that was instituted was a new member's class. Every person that joined was required to complete a five-week new member's class before they could begin to work in the church.  The second thing that happened was that Sis. Rogers asked her husband to mention, from time to time, about why people came to church.  These steps worked.

In 1994, a new building was built to house the increase in membership. The new building seated 2,000 people, had offices for the director's of the ministries at the church, a bookstore, a library, and a state-of-the-art audio and video recording room.

A church basketball and football league was set-up in 1995.  Churches from around the state participate in the league. There are several age groups in the league, 5-7, 8-12, 13-18, 19 and older. The league is very popular.

The church has a dynamic youth ministry headed by Frank Taylor and his wife Ann Taylor.  The music ministry is headed by Roger Gray, a singer/musician on Baumann Records.

Snead Memorial Cathedral is constantly growing by doing God's work.
